Clementine Hunter Prints

Louisiana's most famous artist, Clementine Hunter, was born in 1886 at Hidden Hill Plantation, a cotton farm with a reputation of being a difficult place to live. When Clementine was fifteen, her father moved them from the harsh environment of Hidden Hill to the financially successful Melrose Plantation acquired in 1898 by John and Camelia ("Miss Cammie") Henry. Miss Cammie turned Melrose into a haven for artists and writers who came to live and work.
